Materials Science International, Inc. (MSI) was founded in 1981. During the first several years of operation, MSI developed manufacturing processes for producing sputtering targets used in the Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) process for coating Winchester disk, low emissivity glass, rapid defrost automotive windshields, aircraft canopy coating and solar panels.

Today, MSI commands a worldwide reputation for its experience in design, manufacture, and service of precious and semiprecious metal targets and coater support equipment for architectural and industrial glass, automotive, and aerospace coating industries.
